Chickens and life

Well as I thought of that I began to think about life and how we are all like that. That when children are nurtured and given the extra attention by their parents that they thrive. How friendships when nurtured grow, and how people in general when treated with love thrive....who doesn't blossom under love and kindness....or better yet how much someone can change when they feel the loving influence of others within their lives. We see it all the time...OK well maybe not in the MEDIA......but it's out there. It's made me think about what I can do within my community, family, and friends to make a difference. I can see just what it's done where my chickens are concerned. There are simple things we can all do that can really make a difference in this world that sometimes feels as if the walls are caving in on society in general (thanks to the negative effect of the media again!) I laugh as I think about the stories and things I've learned since buying my first little chick.....it makes me wonder what I'd learn from living on a farm...then again...buying the chickens taught me I definitely won't be impulse shopping when it comes to animals...Oh well...just thought I'd share my take on this.....the bearded chickens are the Ameraucana Chickens...the mutts like what I have come from the blue/green eggs called Easter Eggs..they are a mix breed of an Araucana and any other type of chicken there are pure bread ones, I don't have any of them...but that's OK....I didn't care about having a pure bread, I just wanted the different colored eggs. I will say that it's very hard to get the real thing. You have to do some research into it and more then likely any bought from a feed store or within a farming community are going to be what I have. You have to go to a registered breeder for the real thing....anyway...bone colored beaks is a sign of the real thing along with blue shanks and feet...mine have more of a slate color along with black legs or dark brown...it's interesting to say the least...just thought I would share that little bit of info....

The biggest thing about the Ameraucana Chickens is the beards and ear tufts along with not have the red waddles that hang down under their beaks. Normal chickens don't have the beards but these are a really pretty chicken...and the roosters are just gorgeous!
