Crazy work
My husband works for a company driving truck and this job is seasonal. So this year thank's to global warming was a slow starting season. He has been with this company for 2 seasons now. We have been so impressed with this company. Until this season, This company does asphalt, parking lots and such. They got a big job out of town. To be exact 3 hours round trip. Did this company at the begining of this job rent a bus to transport the drivers, no they didn't. They don't want to take the trucks back and forth each day which we understand. So their way of handing this job and getting their drivers to it. Give each driver $15.00 for each day that they work this site. Ok does anyone see anything wrong yet. Well let me list them for you. 1. gas let's see the current price of a gallon of gas where we live is over $3.00 per gallon. Now unless you are making this trip on a motorcycle you are going in the whole each day. 2. hours not paid these drivers are traveling 1 1/2 hours each way to a jobsite without any hourly wage to them. 3. carpooling this company didn't take the time, they have a weekly safety meeting. To with all the drivers there to workout a carpool so that the men could get there with the mimamium of trouble to any one driver. Now did they do any of these 3 things no that would make sense. Now the other thing that they have done this season that I have a real problem with is. They have hired other workers from a employment agency. Now this act alone isn't a problem but the fact that they are making the drivers that work this out of town site take a extra day off each week, this inclues the temp workers. Now I just can't understand this, some of these drivers have been with them for 5 years and this is how they treat their loyalty. I don't get this. To bring them back at the beginning of the season just to not work them is beyond me. My husband is spending about 1 hour each night just trying to work out rides, after already giving them 3 hours of extra driving time that he isn't being paid for. Many times he drives down alone in our mini van cause he is the other cars are full. Just how green is this? |
